1. Where the name Axiom come from?
2. What's the "factory secondary"? Are these sold on each store/online?

Thanks for your question.
1) Axiom is a philosophical and mathematical term meaning "a universal truth".

2) Factory seconds are available at some of our retailers throughout Canada. You can contact the dealer nearest you to see if they carry seconds. Our factory seconds are rigourously tested for electronic excellence, so they sound as good as firsts, but they have encountered some sort of blemish, usually on the cabinet, during manufacturing. For this reason, they are not retailed online.

Thanks for the explainations. For the factory seconds, if the imperfection is on the inside surface of the cabinet, then in theory, it might change the sound reflection and acoutic field inside the box, thus, the overal acoustic performance might be slightly different from the factory first, although there are no difference electronically. Is above arguments logically meanginful? Does axiom speakers have to pass certain acoustic tests? Are there different test criteria for factory first and second, apart from cosmetic factors?

Cabinet blemishes on the inside of the cabinet severe enough to have any effect on performance would be virtually impossible. However, that being said, if it were to happen, it would show up on our acoustical tests. 'Firsts' and 'Seconds' undergo exactly the same acoustical tests. If there is a discrepancy in sound from our reference loudspeaker, then the speaker is taken off the line and given to the engineering department for investigation. We understand that some people aren't concerned with minor cosmetic imperfections, but we're sure no one wants even the slightest defect in sound!

I bought a pair of factory seconds and for the life of me I cant find the blemish! To make "factory seconds" to a quality that outstrips much more expensive finishes on other speakers is quite something!
