Ian, I am very interested in getting a pair of the M80s, but when looking at the reviews, I noticed that the sensivity is not the published 98dB. Soundstage mag said it was 90.0 and from the graph, the max was a little below 95dB. I understand that is probably not in room, I know that makes some difference, but 8dB on the average is huge....

Plz help, inquiring minds want to know!

I have noticed this too. I would like some more information on this as well.

There are a number of ways to measure the sensitivity of a loudspeaker. Very shortly we are going to put the anechoic and the room sensitivities both on our product pages. I think this will help in sorting all this out. I think I will put the methods used to measure them in as well. It is a bit funny because we used to only put in anechoic sensitivity ratings and the questions were always the other way; why do our speakers seem to play louder than their sensitivity ratings in comparison to other products. Look for this to be in the product pages for all models before the end of the month.
