Had my mind pretty much set on a new H/K 635 reciever but I found an 'open box' special on a 630 at Circuit City today for $699 so I couldn't resist, the only thing it doesn't have the manual or remote but has the full factory warranty.
I figure a manual can be had online and the remote will be taken care of with the addition of (probably) the MX-700.
Typically I do not go for these types of specials but after discussing with my wife about the 80s and the Rotel 1080 amp and 1070 preamp, thinking on the negative side...she said 'Well if your going to spend THAT kind of money on the stereo (80s/Rotels) you might as well go ahead and get this at this price.
What do you all think...good deal?
Loved my Onkyo 502, but so far this 630 is awesome with the 60s.

Wow, that's a heck of a good buy. Oh well, I did what I did and I'll keep what I have and nonetheless, I'm happy!

Yea I know John, I'm beginning to think whenever it comes to a/v decision making, ol' BrotherBob is a complete dork! Oh well, at least the end result is worth it!
CC has a 30 day return policy, even on open box items so at least I get to play around with this 630 until the 635 gets here. Darn thing sure sounds sweet pushing these 60s, no doubt.

Bob - you are hard to keep up with! You will end up pretty happy with (whatever) HK receiver you keep, return or reorder.

Oh...just wait untill the new Rotel gear shows up next week , should be just a couple of days after the 635 arrives! The 80s get ordered during the first part of the week. Other than some needed accessories, that's about all that the brother is gonna be ordering for quite some time to come...done been told that by the big boss, for sure!
But, damn...it was nice while it lasted.

Does the 635 have any features the 335 doesnt? (other than more WPC)
If it doesnt wouldnt you (assumeing your going to run seperates anyway)
be running essentialy the same set-up by going with a 335 since your not going to be useing its amps anyway?

Bray, the H/K will be set up with the existing 60s, QS8s, VP100 and EP 350 for HT only in one room of my house. The Rotels and 80s will be a stereo only set up in another part of the house for music.

I am intrigued by the HK 635 - It seems like it's a good/great receiver. But why is it on sale everywhere? To my knowledge it's fairly new...and original price was...1300 or so...why is it commonly sold for 600-700 these days?
Seems like TOO good of a deal...
