Thanks for sharing Richard.

Looks like you have a pretty acoustically lively room so don’t your Axioms sound too “bright.“ I just have to ask this since soooo many people perpetuate the myth the Axiom speakers are very “bright.”

Cheers,
Dean

Actually , for me they sound fine , and i have to add some treble. This is due to the fact that i didnt take real good care of my hearing. I work as a mechanic and during my day hearing protection was not used so much. Plus i have been to more than a few concerts and parties back in the day, and i like my music loud .I also do have the two couch's which are effective at dampening .Adding the speaker stands made a huge improvement/difference,they are the perfect height . I still use my HPM's for my stereo listening. Best relationship ive ever had is with my Pioneers, 30 yrs later and still lovin em.

peace.

I’m an aircraft mechanic now, luckily when I started they were already being very uptight about hearing protection. My two problems are that I fired my machinegun too much w/o hearing protection and ironically my worst hearing loss is in my left ear from driving from always driving with my window rolled down.

Maybe in true U.S. tradition I should sue the auto manufactures for not putting a warning label on the drivers window. “Driving at high speed with the window down can cause hearing loss.”

You should have used your machine gun to shoot out the passenger window. At least your hearing loss would be balanced side-to-side.

My father has nearly total hearing loss in his left ear from this. I think the point would be to sue the manufacturers for not having Air Conditioning installed as a safety concern on all models or in my father's case, he could sue the company he worked for that refused to buy vehichles with air conditioning to save money.

I know I wouldn’t be able to just stop there. I’d end up shooting out the A, B and C posts and make it a convertible. The M60 was not a fine cutting tool but it had the power to get the job done.

That sucks. My problem is self inflicted. Even if I have a car with air conditioning I don’t use it and just roll the window down. I just get to freaked out if I can’t hear what’s going on around me especially when stopped and an intersection. Paranoid much?

Hmmmm, I prefer driving with the window down as opposed to using the air con, but now you've got me wondering if it's a good idea or not.

Oh well, kind of a mute point now anyway....the gear on my electric window disintegrated on the drivers side so I've wedged it in the "up" position.

(There's a joke there for you Mark!!)

Well im sure that has hurt me also, being semi claustrophobic. First thing i do when i get in the car is put the window down.(real biatch at -40) . Grunt, when you said machine gun i laughed to myself,i pictured a ww2 era machine gun lol. Kids nowadays call them uzi's or mac 10's.

Funny thing, you’re not far off. If you look at the inside of the feed tray cover of an M60 (U.S. 1957 - present) and MG42 (German WW2) they are almost identical. Biggest difference is we dumbed ours down to fire slower and jam more often by making it gas rather than recoil operated like the Germans.

M60 machine gun

For that matter except for the M16 and a few other things about 50% of our equipment in the late 70s and early 80s was WW2 technology if not outright surplus. About 25% was Korean war tech with a high percentage of surplus and the remaining 25% was surplus Vietnam war.

It wasn’t until the “Regan revolution” kicked in about mid 80s that the Corps started getting new equipment. Not always for the better IMHO.

I used an Uzi as an embassy guard but never liked it. Firing from an open bolt just never felt right. Now I know my M60 also did but it weighed 22.5 lbs so you didn’t feel the bolt moving. But with the Uzi the bolt was a large % of the weapons weight so you can feel it slide forward before the round fires. I preferred the 870P shotgun, more versatile and fun and most importantly more intimidating.
