MML, can you give us the story behind these speakers, how they came to be?

Half of communication is listening. You can't listen with your mouth.

Either you are a photoshop expert or you you have crazy tall speakers... Either way I'm impressed.

heck i couldnt even get the size of the pics correct to download the first time...let alone a photoshop expert.
these stem from my early 80's car stereo days, i did 3 10's in my car before it was heard of, jl, rockford and the many others.
always tried to be different, so my mom tells me...:)
originally i wanted to sell them and get get something civil for my new home in february, then i came across emotive and their large mono block amp which i think i may get 3 of them an use them for my gym.

I like it... although I would probably want safety chains on the upper speakers to help with the old kid-and-dog-proofing.

no pets, no kids, they normally reside behind an at screen, moving soon and thought i'd try something completely different.
btw i think you're the first to say something positive.
i thought a/v was to be fun, or is it this forum thing that is to be fun. either way i have these kicka$$ speakers that rock.
i almost bought the other 2 for the surrounds.
oh btw there are no upper speakers, they're one cabinet each>>>

I just blew past this thread earlier because I thought it was just a Photoshop joke but now I must say I’m quite impressed. From the other thread I must ask why or more likely how in the world you keep something like those in storage. Hell even if I didn’t have them hooked up I keep them out just to freak people out.

So did Axiom happen to test these in their chamber to see what the frequency response was?

When you used them were they all standing vertically or did you use/try the center horizontally? If you did how did it sound?

I have no doubt those are fantastic for HT (serious wall-of-sound) but how do the handle music especially imaging?

Thanks for posting the pics and it’s nice to see some not constrained by conformist attitudes.

Cheers,
Dean

ian never did test them, he had a serious grin on his face when i met him and asked him to build these, his response was put as much power to them as i want...
i tried the centre horizontally above and below my screen and decided to get an smx at and stand it upright. i feel it sounded more uniformed to the other two, there is some lobing but when seated it sounds awesome. the brightness is toned down somewhat behind the screen.
i can't give you details of how they sound with music, honestly i don't know a thing about staging and...
when my buddy came over the other day and i moved them from the theatre to upstairs (getting ready to move) he was floored by them.

Just fyi, my comment in this thread was in amazement and awe, not disgust or anything like that.

MML you might be interested in reading this thread and our findings with the M60's sitting on top of the M80's.

I can remember commenting that they sounded wrong and once seated you only heard the M80s which were on the bottom, when standing up you heard alot of mixed/layered sounds with the lobing you mentioned.
