My 1st dedicated HT

Thank You to everyone who has offered advice over the past six months. I did have to sacrifice a little due to WAF, like the couch blocking the FR & how does everyone like the play area underneath Al Pacino? Everything sounds great, my next step is to figure out how to get two more QS8's in the mix for rear surrounds. The french doors may pose a problem.....

Thanks htnut & Jay. I actually thought about moving one of the subs to in between the recliner & couch in the end table set up you suggest, but I wasn't sure how it would sound right next to me. I may try it just to see. Thanks again.

Chesseroo, your opinions are noted, and I agree with some of what you state. The pics do not necessarily do the room justice; it does look a bit crowded, but we do this for how it sounds and hope it looks good as well! I went with the 80's so not to be bit by the upgrade bug, or have to upgrade if & when we move and I get a larger room. I have not pushed them too much yet, so as for now I do not feel they over power the room. I appreciate you looking & taking the time to offer your thoughts, we're all entitled to speak. I know where you stand based on the plant suggestion???? You can't expect me to not fire back!

Well unlike everyone else i'm not going to fire sunshine up everyone's @ss (does everyone have to a be "yes man" because someone bought Axiom speakers?). I didn't say anything about the pictures in your room. Not sure where the comments from that are coming from. I was commenting on the size of the M80s in a room of those limited width dimensions.

Buying such a large speaker for a small room just doesn't make any sense simply because you will never use half of what the speaker can do, yet you are paying for it. The M22s would have been a better fit and far less costly. Again the idea that owning the "biggest, most expensive, top of the line"...unit a company sells is not the practical approach to designing a good sounding system, although i'm sure there are no major sound issues with your system choice. Many here state "oh, the room makes a huge difference" but then are hypocritical in recommending a M80 for a small room which limits placement and hence limits customizing sound quality within that room.
I would probably make a terrible car salesman putting you into a used Corrolla instead of selling you on the big black, honking gas sucking Escalade.

However, you have future plans to possibly move, expect future proofing in this regard, so there is at least an alternate reasoning for putting out the extra cash in advance for the M80s.

As for the plant, every wife seems to want to add something to these rooms, some knick nack, ceramic garden gnomes, feng shui plant, etc. The perfect spot is on top of that media cabinet is all i was saying.

Our vampire members appreciate it!

Really, I'm a fan of honest opinions. I probably tend toward niceness myself, but if people are going to comment on my system, I'd prefer no holding back. I'm already aware I don't have a perfect setup, some of which I can justify, and if I can't justify some of the choices I've made, it's all the better if someone can point them out to me.

Charles, I need to tell you that I would prefer alligators to crocodiles.

There. I said it.

I didn't realize the truth would hurt this much. I was all talk. Please sugar-coat your criticisms from now on. Yes, sugar. I still fear the anal sunshine shotgun.

The stories about Charles having alligators in his basement are a croc.

OK, maybe something I said was misinterpreted. I do appreciate honesty; I was only explaining my decision, and jabbing back in fun. I did not expect everyone to bow with praise. For the record, we have M22's upstairs & they were tested in this room as well. Please carry on how you normally would.

I'm guessing this is something that's been sticking in Chess's craw for a long time. Sometimes stuff that gets stuck in craws pops out at the slightest pressure...

I'm just glad I'm not the only one who posts horrifyingly bad puns.
