new additions to The CRIB
My DD-18, Gramma, and Mopads finally arrived, yipee! Happy Birthday to me, happy birthday to me... BTW, that's not me in the pic. So Daniel-San...grills on...or grills off...?

Where did you get that stand for the center channel?
Nice stuff. That DD-18 looks like a ton of fun. Also, I'd love to hear what you have to say about the Auralex stuff.

Thanks CV! It's a very old Lovan Affinity center stand, can't even remember where I got it. Also still using the matching stands for the mains but moved them to Zone 2 when I got the eD's. The DD-18 is indeed a lot of fun and should keep me busy for a while. The Gramma was actually just to lift the EP500 to the same height as the DD, but I was surprised that it actually did make a slight difference in sound. Now if the difference is preferable or not depends on the listener. For me it was more aesthetics, the sound difference was just a bonus. The Mopads were to give me piece of mind that the eD's and mains are isolated, and once again, aesthetics.

Which of these 4 is not like the other...now where's my can of silver spray paint? Been playing around with the built in sms, now the ep500 and dd-18 sound very similar with servo set at 3. That means I actually like harmonic distortion! Maybe it should be called harmonious distortion instead . Seems to add that nice enveloping texture and warmth to the wonderful EP500. Still my favorite all around sub

Harmonic and harmonious mean just about the same thing. When tones are harmonious that means they are even-order harmonics of each other.

Learning something new everyday, thanks for the tip. Funny that the thing that measures so bad is actually what makes it sound good.

Hmm... not enough woofage. You need two EP800s for the back corners.

Very nice, that DD18 has been well received among the subwoofer crowd. I am with you, I like those sub harmonics, very nice sounding.

Thanks Jay, I actually prefer the sound of the EP500 for music, Haven't had time to play with the sms yet though. Have it set on THX setting as per the manual, that's it so far. Many people harshly judge Axiom subs by its charts and distortion without hearing it for themselves. I don't hear charts, so I'd rather trust my ears. If I had to do it all over again, I would have just gotten twin EP500's and a Buttkicker. My 2,300 cu ft sealed room is shaking itself to bits. For movies, dual eD's. For music, either the EP500 or DD-18 alone. But who knows, if I get the sms tuned right I may be able to run both the Axiom and DD-18 together just for the balance of 2 subs.
