Capn_Pickard's Basement HT

Hey all. Here are a few pics of the basement HT. This is "before" I paint the back wall behind the screen black/charcoal gray, which is set to happen later this week.

I've got a set of M60s in cherry and the QS8s in maple. The 6th and 7th speakers are some old beaters that I painted to match the ceiling. I might upgrade these at some later date with M2s.

The Projector is a Mitsubishi HC1500, which has a little under a 1000 hours on it. I love it, and even though it's only 720p, I find the picture (blu ray - dvd is a different story) to be nearly flawless blown up to 100".

The screen is an Elite screen. The VP100 is mounted on an Axiom custom FMS.

I'll put up some pics of my recent rack install later.

NB: This room is shared with the kids - their toys are usually littered around the space, with storage lining the walls. They have been kindly removed from the frame to avoid cluttering up the pics.

I really like it Adrien, that looks fairly close with the color we have on our walls in the TV room and we also have the white trim and baseboards. Looks great!

Thanks. We were fortunate that the previous owner installed a junction box exactly where I needed for an in-ceiling outlet. The room is adjacent to a utility/laundry room, which allowed me to steer the wires through that space without having to lay a bunch of wires everywhere.

This is the only color from the previous owner that remains. I'd love to get some of your comments on whether you think painting that front wall (the screen wall) black would look cool or weird. I've already got wife approval to do it, but don't want to make a (dark) mistake...

Very beautiful! I still think M60's are the best-looking Axiom speaker wink

You totally need a VP180, though. That VP100 looks out of scale. I'll bet is still sounds great, though.

Very nice!

I agree with Tom, the M60s do look the best with the grills on. I wish the M80s had more wood showing from the front.

However, the M80s look significantly more impressive from the side than M60s. wink

You could always change it to a very dark, but matching color of what the walls will eventually be painted in, using a flat, glossless paint.

I'd use a dark colour other than black, myself. Rick posted some good links reg HT colours a couple of weeks ago in another thread....
