Aaron's Home Theater

Here it is. Finally done. Thanks to Axiom Audio and to owners on the Axiom forum for helping make this room possible.

I find having them up higher allows them to provide that sense the rain is falling from above . Are you using QS8's with your atmos. Good don't let Nick find out. smile

I have a 5.2.4 setup with qs8's just slightly behind my front row....more alongside than behind...at ear level. I did it this way until I go 7.2.4 as the qs8's do fire at the front and rear rows. It works but not ideal.

Plan for this year if funds permit is qs8's are gone for onwalls and vp150 to 160.

Sorry I haven't logged in for a while. No I am not running Atmos. My ceilings are 8' but after finishing and adding sound insulation as well as double drywall it's just over 7'8". The front room ceiling speakers are front presence speakers. They are directional, the woofers are mounted at an 18 degree angle and pointed towards the seating area. Works quite well. This is the third room I have built with QS's, first with 4's and now with 8's. This height works best in my opinion. I love the sound. Agree that they are two far forward however with the shape of my room in order to place them further back I the right side would have been inset 3 feet into the nook on the right side of the room. Otherwise I would have had to hang them from the ceiling and I didn't want to do that. I spent a lot of time with speaker channel levels and such. Turning the rears up a bit higher than normal helped quite a bit and the sound is great. I'm very happy with it.

My only comment about the room and Atmos is that I am doing 7.2.4 Atmos with a ceiling height that is about 7' 8" and it works. Doesn't sound (pun intended) like you care to go that route, so no other comments on that are needed. smile

Maybe I missed it somewhere, but what are the in-ceiling speakers for?

I'm running a 9.1. The in ceiling speakers are front height speakers. The are mounted close to the front speakers and the cones are set at an 18 degree angle inside the casing of the speaker. They are directional towards the front seating. Works well. Sounds great.

It all matters.....just not very much.

I like the implementation of the presence speakers. I wish i was rich, i would go visit everyone and listen to their theaters,oh and ride every rollercoaster i can find.

I forget what it's called, but in the flashlight community it used to be common for someone to arrange access to an expensive/exotic light and then send it around a group of interested people. Each person putting their name on the list took responsibility for looking after the light while they had it and making sure it was delivered safely to the next person.

We could probably do something similar with forum members. It would be fun... like couch surfing but with better seating and better sound.
