Freaks and Geeks and several other false starts. Currently, he's co-executive producer of
The Office, which he's also directed his share of episodes of. In addition, he's directed episodes of other venerable shows such as
Arrested Development,
Undeclared,
30 Rock,
Weeds, and
Mad Men. As nice as those gigs are, directing isn't creating, and it's heartbreaking when you consider how many of his own projects have been in the works only to be shot down by executives who don't seem to get him. Anyway, it's an interesting article.
