Doug, the NR1602 is a fine unit, but is a bit pricey. Of the possibilities you mention, the 1912 would seem to be the best buy, especially if you get a factory refurbished unit, which should be at least as reliable as a brand-new one. For about $390 it's available here .

An even better choice might be to move up to the 2112 with the higher grade Audyssey XT for about $40 more.
