Whew. I made a small dent, but only did 1 1/2 hours of real work. The rest was just getting setup. The temperature has been moderate here today at about 65 degrees F. This is one time I'll be glad to see it drop because it gets hot working up there.

I thought the big black trash bags were going to be too big to fit in the hole to take them out, but they did fit ok. The hole is only about 2 foot by 2 foot. I load up my trunk with the bags, then unload them at my work's big industrial sized dumpster.

I found some newspaper mixed in with the old insulation. It's dated 1963. So that tells me the insulation is about 39 years old. (Correction: 49 years old)

I found a child's sized plastic snow shovel with extendable handle that's perfect sized for this job. It's about 10 inches wide by about 15 inches long, and about 3 inches deep.
