Athletes weren't the only Brazilian visitors to London. The fine Sao Paolo Symphony, with American conductor(conductress?)Marin Alsop presented Prom Concert 45, with a very entertaining selection of music from North and South America. On the first half was Dvorak's 9th "New World" Symphony. Following intermission were two brief fanfares(that the bass drummer must have really loved), a Villa-Lobos composition featuring the piano, and concluded with the Ginastera Estancia and its wild Malambo finale.

Available for six more days on the BBC iPlayer site (and keep listening after the concert to the interesting Villa-Lobos choral piece they put on).
