Hypothetical thread for fun.
Not saying that all multichannel mixes are done on these, but has anyone ever considered a set of 5 powered studio monitors for HT duty.

existing avr as Preamp <1000$
Mains and Center 8" Mackie mr8mk2 220 each (sold as single)
Surrounds 5" Mackie mr5mk2 150$ each (sold as singles)
Axiom subwoofer
They accept unbalanced RCA connects. Easy enough.
I have listened to the 5" versions as a desktop option. They sound fantastic and are very powerful, but are large. They also have very good bass output for their size. The 8" would be knarly!
The monitor cost before a sub would be around 1000$ and would have roughly 600W power. Real power. I mentioned this in another thread as an alternative to pro audio amps. They are also built like tanks and would likely never have to be replaced. Has anyone considered something like this?
