Jacques, that just shows you that by being willing to take a big risk and ignoring the warning "Do not press this button!", good things can come to you!

If your measurement #2 is actually at the same position as #1, it would seem that using at least a slightly different point, but still along the center line, say 3" forward of #3, or making #2 and #3 2" and 4" forward, would be helpful.

On the DPLII/Neo:6 question, a couple years ago I did an extensive quasi-blind(rapidly making multiple switches with eyes closed so the position was confused)series of tests. I found pretty much the opposite of what you reported on those factors, and have used only DPLII since then.
