I upgraded my M80 to the HP ones. I think the best bargain would have been to buy pre sale models in September for about $1700 and keep the pair your trading in.
I think you can only be the judge if the upgrade is worth it. I traded my speakers in and bought the real wood veneer. I noticed an improvement immediately. I posted in another form on this site. I think the sound is cleaner, clearer and the bass isn't muddy. The improvement I feel is worth it. My only regret is maybe I should have gotten HP100. For real wood the price of the HP 100 veneer is the same price as the wood version of the HP80. I do think the wood makes the speakers look classier. But isn't it about the sound? Bottom line noticeable sound improvement that I'm enjoying.
