I would agree with all that has been said about the QS 4/8s. I had what sounds like a similar issue to you in that on one side of my surround placement I have a large doorway which only left me about 12 inches or so of space from the top of the doorway to the ceiling to mount my QS 8's which are a little larger than the QS 4s.

The brackets Mark recommended, although not inexpensive, give you the option of moving the speakers up and down enough as well as sideways to alleviate the ceiling closeness issue.
