I owned the M22s, VP150 and QS8s and had the VP150 setup in three different houses over about 8 years. I really liked the M22s and QS8s, but found the VP150 was lacking in comparison. I think it must of been the compromised horizontal alignment of the drivers of the VP150. Now, I had version 2 speakers, so maybe the updates have fixed some of the things I didn't like. I was thinking about upgrading to the VP160 to improve things, but never got around to doing so.

I think that the VP160 is a better speaker design over the VP150. I am saying this simply from the standpoint that off axis response will be better in the VP160 (and not having heard it). Also, on wall speakers are also compromised designs compared to conventional speakers. I would think that this would be possibly a couple of steps down.

One possibility is that you may be able to use a M2 or M22 on wall rather than the VP150 on wall.
