The way the front panel was designed you can either plug in directly from the front or run a cable underneath your AxiomAir and access the front wire connections without having to leave the door open. It is the same for the USB inputs. As long as your thumb drive is not huge you can plug it in the front and close the door.
For the Sub Out we saw no real need for it to be on the front so it is rear only. For the Analog In we anticipated different needs that drove us to put it on both the front and the rear. We did not see the LAN connection getting much use at all but it can be wired permanently without the need to leave the door open or accessed from the front from time to time if needed.
