Ok, I have about $400cdn ($60US hehe) for a new surround receiver. I have narrowed it down to
Yamaha's RX-V740, or
Onkyo's TX-SR601, or
Denon's 1804
What are your thoughts? I prefer the Amps in the Onkyo & Denon, but I really like the fact that the Yammy has pre-outs. This is a huge plus for me, as I have plans for separate power amps some day (a long, long way off). But, I hate the fact that the crossover is fixed at 90Hz.
I have a soft spot for the Onkyo because of
this review. The unit was tested with the M80's (which I have) as well as a VP150 & QS8's (coming).
I'm neutral on the Denon.
Please don't suggest larger / more expensive units. As much as I would love to, I'm afraid I can't wait to save any longer. If there are any suggestions on other units
at this price point, please fire away.
