I have a toddler at home that just learned to crawl. Are the M22's on stands more sturdy than the M60s?

Don't they become toddlers when they learn to walk?

I would have to say that M60s would be sturdier than M22s on stands. I have a toddler and M22s, but my speakers are on a credenza style entertainment center, secured with Quake Hold.

It's a waxy, putty-like substance that secures objects to walls, furniture, and other hard surfaces. It's great stuff.

I've got my M22's mounted on stands (24" high) with a product similar to QuakeHold. My twin boys (14 months old) have full access to the speakers and we've had no problems at all. We have hardwood floors so I also use the putty to hold the stand to the floor.

M60s, lower center of gravity.

Think of the M22s on stands as being Ford Explorers while the M60s are Porsche Boxsters

The M60ti is a slow underpowered car? Sorry I really could not stop myself.

I really do like Porsche a lot. I jsut dont like the Boxster. But this is a forum about Audio so im gonna shut up now.

Go with a floorstanding with kids. Speakers on most stands are just asking to fall with a lot of activity/traffic in the room.

I think he meant 911 GT2, second only to the Carrera GT -- the M80+EP600 of Porsches

I have my M22's on FMS16's w/ Bluetak. Not a problem for us w/ a 2.5 year old. Once in a blue moon she likes to poke the grille but it's not that bad.

M60's would probably be sturdier but heavier if it fell...

Well, I think that if they are going to knock something over, it will eventually happen. My 1 year old son was crawling past an M60 the other day and happened to bump it. The speaker wouldn't have fallen on him as it is close to the tv, however it did make me think to move it closer to the tv for safety. Maybe I should remove the rubber feet and install the carpet spikes for a while....

My cats took a go at knocking over the M50 the other day. Didn't work, as there simply isn't room where it is for it to tip over, but it was fairly amusing!

I imagine a tipping speaker (M60) is less likely to cause harm than a falling speaker (M22). You don't want a corner landing on them...

Another vote for towers. Ideally, put a couple of sticky-mount hooks on the back wall and the back of the speaker so the cable can run up straight from the binding posts, across to the wall out of reach, then down in some safe location where tugging will just pull wires out of the back of the receiver.

The great thing about Axioms that they only have 4 sharp corners -- half as many as a standard box speaker. They should add that to the literature as a selling point.

Has anybody here tried the new stands for the m22's? They are supposed to have a pressure clamping system to prevent the speakers from being knocked off the stands. Tipping them over could still be a problem though...

Can the stands be filled with sand? No mention of it on the website...? That might tip (Ha!) the decision toward the 22s? Can I add more sentences with question marks?

I asked Brent a few months back the same question. Yes, the Axiom speaker stands can be filled with sand, lead shot (my preference) or similar material to deaden vibration and increase stability.
