Hello all I am a newbie to HT and i have a problem i am hoping someone can help me with. I have a Denon 1802 receiver with a sony DVD player as well as a cd player, Sony 43" TV,along with Direct TV. All works fine and here is my problem, i just purchased a VCR and I have a picture but a dont have any sound. can someone tell me what cables go where to get sound before i go crazy. Thanks

I'm guessing the receiver has audio IN jacks for video 1. I'm also guessing the vcr is hi-fi. If the video OUT from the vcr is hooked up to the receivers video 1 input, get an audio cable, go from the video OUT audio on the vcr to the receivers video 1 IN audio jacks. That should do it.

thanks, it worked, now i need to find out how to be able to record programs from my direct tv

The jacks from the video and audio OUT on the Direct Tv receiver need to be connected to the IN jacks for video and audio on the vcr. I guess it depends on which Direct tv receiver you have.
