sjroland,
I posted my thoughts on listening to new speakers for the first time a short while ago.
You might find it interesting, but if it is too long for you to bear, skip to the bottom summary.
The M1s and M2s obviously have a different sound (i think the M2 has a newer tweeter, same as in the M22). Comparing it to your Energy speakers will take some time for your ears to adjust.
Second to that, depending on your listening distance away from the speakers, 8 feet apart for those small speakers is pretty wide. Try playing with distances and toeing some more. Also calibrate your left and right channels with an SPL if you have one.

Ultimately though you may also still decide that the M2s are too 'bright' for your liking.
It happens.

SJ, reading your description of the two types of sound imbalance you experienced raises the possibility that the midwoofer on the right speaker is either way down in volume or not working at all. If a sound such as a singer or radio announcer supposed to be in the middle is way off to the left that means that the voice frequencies are much louder on the left speaker. Also, a speaker whose midwoofer wasn't operating correctly would indeed sound quite shrill.

Switch the left and right speakers to see if the soundstage shifts and you might also listen to each individually in mono to see if there's a decided difference. If so, speak with Joe.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

I hooked up a my 3 speaker switcher box instead of swapping wires. Brought my Energy's over too for comparision. Will never get rid of the Take-5 set dispite the 2 faults I have with them. Weak vocals and upper bass. I want the same sound, just fixed.
1)The M1's sound really muted. Vocals are not forward enough although they do deep male vocals better than the Energys. Vocals are centered but are pushed back. The Energys are at the front of the TV and the M1's sound like they're coming from behind the entertainment center. Highs are not open and tingly. Cymbals are too soft. I gave the NHT SuperZero a shot last month and they sounded very similar. Very similar
2) M2's - BRIGHT! Very close to the Energys except vocals are a bit overdone and get very shrilly up top. A lot more bass.
Wanted to stay small but maybe the M3 is better for me. I'll have the whole product line soon.
Saturday I'll be back at my house and will be testing them on the bedroom Kenwood. My Energys sounded good on all the receivers I've had. Are the Axioms more finicky?
JohnK - Swapped the left and right M2's and it stayed on the left. I'm sure it is the recording. But the M2's amplified this problem. I did not notice it on the M1's or the Energys in listening area. Only when I walked from speaker to speaker and put my ears next to them could I tell the vocals were down on the right speaker.
Thanks for all your input. Stephen

Also, what are returns like for U.S. residents? Is there customs and lofty shipping charges? I live in Florida. Would I be better off eBaying them?
