I plugged my Component cable from the Input 1 Components on the back of my TV into the Component Out on the back of my Onkyo amp (602) and I get no picture. Why? The Moniter Out with a regular yellow video cable works, as does using just the green on the component cable. But why isn't this working in the Component Out area of the amp?

Here

And yes, my TV is on the right input channel and all the colors are match so its not the cable's problem. And I tried them with just a DVD player without using the Amp and it worked so its not the TV's problem either.

Do you have a component cable from the DVD player to the Onkyo? You could probably just run the component straight from the DVD player to the TV.

If you're not running any more component video sources through your receiver you should be fine with the DVD hooked straight to the TV.

Ok, I got it to work, the problem was that there is no on screen menus with component video. Why is that? I can't see what I'm doing.

I get the same thing with my HK. Always have to use the s-video input when using OSD. Pain in the you-know-what.

and is component video supposed to be kinda grainy looking up close? I think it looks better further away but up close I don't like the looks. (I ordered mine from that Triangle place if that matters)

Not unless your tv is set on one of the horrible factory default picture settings. Mine was at first and I thought I made a huge mistake with my purchase. Who wants to spend time reading stupid owner's manuals? I just wanna plug the new stuff in and go. Doesn't work all the time. . .

New problem, I plugged a yellow video cable from a game system into the Input of Video 2 on the AMP and I got no picture. Can Yellow video cables not be used if my amp uses Component cables to the TV?

I also have to use a different video input for on screen display of the Onkyo (601). Kind of a pain but its not like your always needing to use on screen display. Usually just during initial set up and tweeking. (of course for some of us this never ends!) Most of the adjustments that I make now I do without the on screen display.

I've found that most components that have an OSD need composite. It won't display in component video.
