I heard that you can order the QS8 surrounds in eggshell white. Is that true? Does anyone have a picture? If I bought 4 QS8's for my rear channels and a different L/R mains and center for the front, would I ruin my home theater? is that a problem, 99% HT.

thanks!

Jim

As long as your L/C/R speakers have a similar general "character" to the so-called Axiom sound, I would say it would probably be just fine. Of course, having all sepakers from the same brand / product line is ideal, but many people sucessfully construct a mixed-brand surround system. Especially, the timbre mating between the fronts and surrounds are not as critical as that among L/C/R.

I, for one, have a mix-brand system of the Hales and Axiom (with a Hsu sub), and am happy with the surprisingly good timbre match between them. But when I was shopping for the center cannel and the surrounds, I certainly looked for what I thought would be similar to my existing Hales sound. I ended up with the Axioms. Both brands have been touted for the "accuracy."

Hi sushi! You have replied to each and every one of my posts at AVS, (SilverCi) and I appreciate it!

I really LOVE how the rockets look and the have heard only great things. I would like to hear them, I have heard axioms (m60s and Qs4, vp100) but havn't given them alot of time. I do like them. The 300 surrounds in the rocket package are just way too big for WAF in our new house, even though I'm trying to convince her, so the QS8s would be a good compromise. and I've heard nothing but good things about them as well. I don't think I would be unhappy with a full axiom setup either (VP150, M80s, 4 QS8s) which is probably where I'm leaning.

thanks again for all your help and info!

Jim

I would agree with Sushi.
L/C/R channels are more important for matching than the surrounds since the majority of the sound will be produced by those 3.

Hi! Welcome to the Axiom forum!!!

Well... As I posted in the AVS forum, the Rockets are definitely on the "laid-back" side (I have only briefly listened to them, though). Rocket's philosophy emphasizes more on a relaxed, mellow listening rather than details and accuracy. It will be your personal call.

Hi,

In this case...if I use M22tis & VP150 up front, would a pair of Ascend CBM-170s work out well for surrounds as far as timbre-matching?

Yes...the Ascend CBM-170's and Axiom M22ti sound, very, very similar. They should work just fine as surrounds.
