Well, As I continue to seek sound, I have finally come up with my main room system. Selling the 60s/150 c.c. was a very difficult thing to do. Room, money and spouse made it manatory. I bought the Maggie 3.6s but returned them. Certainly NOT for sound quality, as they are a very fine 2 channel speaker. The wife could not live with the 2 foot by 6 foot door appearence. I hated to say it but had to also agree. These will be going in a new house/new room IF the house EVER gets completed!! AS some my know I bought M-3s for 4 other main rooms in the house. I kept my 22s for the future "decent" sized non-main room in the new house. I continue to use the QS-8s in the new set-up.

I went with the Martin Logan Ascent-i mains, ML "Theater" model center, the QS-8s on the side, ML Aerius-i rears. All in Maple hardwood. The Qs-8s blend vwry well in HT, maybe becase they are quad-pole, and the ML's are di-pole the angles somehow work very well together. I love Axioms, and I can't ever remember getting about 70% return on my initial investment on "used" speakers.

The sound honestly is incredible, The center is the most impressive center I have ever heard. But is "silly" expensive!! And it's a monster at 44"wide-14"high16"deep and 60 pounds. It's look somehow makes it look acceptable though. Please don't hate me guys, I love this site, and you guys (most of ya LOL) as you can tell I love my Axioms. And feel they offer unsurpassed quality, customer service, and of course sound. Trully a great value which is why I have, and will continue to have them in this home and the new home. The QS-8s can hold their own with all of these items, and I don't see anything that ML has that would be in my best interest as far as surrounds. I have a few pics below.

What a great system. Enjoy !!

It does all look very well balanced, even the "Godzilla" center.

Thanks for the kind words guys. We all know all the effort and pondering, and placement, (and I mean placement)and if you have a spouse--the salesmanship that goes into any well thought out system. The day I got the center and Ascents, (I took the day off) Janis walks in the side door, I am elated, She says "you must have gotten your speakers" then looks around (has not seen anything yet) and says "god, the house is so clean, and my favorite Yankee candle is burnig, they are real big aren't they? How big are they??!!" Later that night, she is absorbing the sound, with a look and feel of absolute pleasure, enjoying the music, sipping wine---everything is fine. God, isn't this all worth it?

Thanks Rock. When you say the same, the Aerius-i of the Ascent-i? They are both in the pics.

Ascents in front and Scenario's in back. I went through two Theater center channels because I was having too many problems with loud crackling noises; so, I had a Cinema in place until I got the Theater fixed. I kept the Cinema in the end since it didn't have any of the problems I was having with the Theater. I used a REL sub for a couple months, and then got the Decent about a month before it went up for sale. Got rid of that since I still preferred the M&K. I love the Ascent's, even if they are a pain to position properly. Finding the right spot to put'em in is a PITA, but once they are properly placed, it's heaven! If you haven't already, definitely follow the placement recommendations in the manual.

Yes, It's been about 3 weeks now, I have messed with them every day for hours. I am very happy with the placement-FINALLY. They are placement sensative. I was real happy, then I listened the other day and thought what is going on now?? Come to find out the right main (AC cord)was accidently unplugged by my wife! They are now about 3 feet off the wall. I find the Ascent-i to have a very large sweet spot compare to the Aeon, and Aerius model that have more narrow esl panels. I personally found the Theater to significantly out-perform the cinema CC, but at about $3K for a CC it should get ya a beer on demand!! I am very pleased with their sound with the Sunfires, so clear, and so fast, not the best for heavy rock/metal, but vocals, stings, jazz, classical etc. are to droll over. Some of the best I have ever heard.

But on the downside, they are huge, (but look awesome)expensive, and finiky on placement. I thought the 3.6 Magneplaner had a "slight" 2 channel edge, but no comparison on HT due to Magneplanar other surround products. The Maggies were also "ugly" IMO, but a fine sounding 2 channel speaker. The QS-8s sound great as side surrounds with the other ML speakers.
