So it's been a while since I post on these boards... Work and school have been terribly time consuming, but don't think that I have forgotten about all of you just yet.

Since I would like to start posting again, I though that I'd share my recent joys with you guys...

Before I post the new pics, I thought I should show you what it looked like before:

(Obviously the bookshelf speakers on top of my mains were just there for the picture.)

Now that we've gotten that ugliness out of the way, I have to say that because the darn 2405FPW is so big (24" Widescreen), I had to disassemble the right part of my desk and remove the glass tray that was on the right hand side.

Now on to the fun part--pictures that show a changed monitor, keyboard, mouse, mouse-pad, case, DVD-RW, et cetera.

1. Desk Closeup:

2. Right Side Angle View:

3. Head-On, Cockpit View:

4. Left Side Angle View:

5. Over-Head View:

6. Some of my other toys connected to the comp:

So what do you guys think? Looks half-way decent?

PS. Sorry about the microphone being connected to the opened front panel of the receiver in the pictures... I didn't notice it until after I had put my camera away.

Since I cannot use a true center channel anymore, I had to let the receiver run its auto calibration again. Due to placement issues, I have to use 2 small Logitech satellites (from the Z-680 multimedia speakers) in place of a standard center channel. Luckily for me, MCACC made the timbre differences minimal. (Of course I only use MCACC for movies and not 2 channel music, though.) This is also why my SPL meter is also on my desk next to the DVD burner. (I can't NOT double check the MCACC. )

Also, to anyone who is thinking about a large screen LCD monitor for his / her computer, the 2405FPW is a fairly nice choice. I am a HUGE fan of the 24" widescreen, 1920x1200 resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio, and the 12 ms response time.

WOW, that’s incredible. I love the widescreen LCD. I wish I could afford to get one... or two. Nice mouse pad too, I have the same one.

Heh.. I take it that you are a PC Gamer then, since you have a fUnc sUrface 1030 as well. I am absolutely in love with the smooth side of the pad! It makes my Razer Diamondback's teflon feet glide very well.

What mouse do you have on yours? I am really tempted to get one of those new Razer Copperheads that just got released this month.

EDIT: I just noticed that the name in your profile section is *ALMOST* the same as where I go to school and work. (Johns Hopkins University) I just found that a bit interesting.

Nice setup!
We use 2 19 inch LCD monitors at our computer at home. The CPA spouse likes big spreadsheets and multiple documents at once. When I go to the office and use the 15 inch screen I feel claustrophobic.

Back in the day I used to game all the time, if I wasn't in class I was playing games. Usually CS or some other FPS, Doom3 more recently. I use the smooth side as well, although I have the stock sliders on my mouse. My current mouse is Logitech MX500. I am so used to it now its hard to think about replacing it.

That Razer Copperhead looks really great. I generally like more buttons on my mouse, 8 with the MX500. I was thinking about getting a G5, G7, or MX1000. I really prefer a corded mouse though.

Although I considered Johns Hopkins, I decided to go with Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech is a better choice for my major. What are your current pursuits at Johns Hopkins... I'm guessing that you are a graduate student, if not a professor.

Edit - I guess I could have read your profile to get that information... oh well. Systems neuroscience, sounds impressive.

Thanks for the compliment on my setup bugbitten!

hopkinj4: I am actually not a grad student yet (although I am taking two graduate-level neuroscience seminar-style courses). I'm just a senior undergrad majoring in Neuroscience with a concentration in Systems. When I graduate this year, I will keep working at the neuro-imaging lab that I am at (in the Hopkins Med School) for a couple of years and then I will either apply to Med Schools (hopefully JHU Med will be one of them) or go to the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in a Ph.D. program. I definitely will not be one of those crazy M.D., Ph.D. people though. If I may ask, what field are you in?

I am currently in my 3rd year as an Aerospace Engineering student. I will be going to graduate school at Georgia Tech as well. The plan right now is to focus on UAV's and space dynamics/space-flight engineering as I feel this is where the future of aviation is headed. My dad is a M.D., family practice. I considered becoming a physician, however the eight additional years of school after the four years college was a bit of a turnoff. I deeply admire people who do have the motivation to go that route, M.D. or Ph.D. for the fact of that matter. The sky is the limit.... or is it?

Ahh it sounds very impressive.

So technically, you going to be a rocket scientist right? I guess your future boss will never be able to say something along the lines of, "How come you screwed this up... It's not rocket science." Hehe.

Well, if I do ever screw something up at least I'll have a good excuse. Great avatars, btw.
