First, let me say you guys have a great board here!

Im am new to the whole "Home Theatre" thing although I have always thought I was "in the know" until I started reading these boards and realized I didnt know anything! ha.

I recently bought a Samsung 62'' DLP 1080p TV and I want to compliment it with a great Home Theater system. I have been told Axiom makes a great product and also a great value.

I spoke with a very helpful gentlemen today from axiom customer service and he recomended the Epic Grand Master 350 for my room size.

Would you guys also recomend this system?

My living room size is about 12x15 with 9ft ceilings.

Thanks guys!

The 985 Denon is the same as the 2805 Denon just marketed through different channels. I bought the 2805 at American Electronics awhile back on employee cost day for around $720 just to give you an idea.

The Epic 350 is the same system I have except I have the M60 floorstanding instead of the 22's. Many people love the 22's and they will do fabulous for HT applications and even music when matched with the sub. You will want to start by setting all the speakers to small on the receiver setup, and then adjust the crossover to the sub at 80hz on the receiver. On the sub you will turn the built in crossover all the way clockwise to its maximum to get it out of the way and let the receiver manage it, also turn the volume on the sub to about 11-12'o clock.

If you listen to a lot of music, you may want to consider the 50's or 60's mains. Don't get me wrong, the 22's WILL perform, you might just get a little better overall bass with the larger main woofers.

Either way you will love these speakers. Another thing to keep in mind is you can order everything from the Factory Outlet as most of us do and save 10% plus if you buy 5 or more speakers you get another 5%. These are still brand new speakers, they may just have very very very slight blemishes. I'm still trying to find some on my setup.

Welcome to the forum

Actually I have nothing to say about your speaker complement, cause I have all different Axioms(M50s plus M3s) but I would be way off base if I didn't complement you on your title choice!!

With that handle; you've just gotta get Axioms....you just gotta!!!

I am by no means an expert, heck the rest of these Axiom guys/gals helped me along the way

Anyway, when you set up your system, the sub is designed for LFE (Low Frequency Effects), basically the reaaaaalllll lowwwww bass. You know when your watching an action movie with lots of explosions, when your whole house rocks

The crossover is the frequency in Hertz (Hz) where the low sounds are routed to the sub. If you look at the specifications for the speakers, it will give you a range of frequency that the speaker can achieve. For ex, the M22's are rated I believe down to about 50-60 Hz on the low end, and upto 22kHz. So when you set your speakers to small, it will ask you what crossover setting. 80Hz is a good rule of thumb most follow, I believe THX recommend this setting. Also, setting speaker to small, does not have anything to do with the physical size of the speaker, it is actually the ability for it to reproduce adequate low frequencies.

With the crossover set to 80hz, any music/movie sounds that fall below that will be routed to the sub, anything above that will be played by those speakers.

I miss being a newbie, however, still consider myself a big newbie

It can be tricky to get stuff all set up right, but the manual and these boards are your friends. We'll get you there.
