Ok guys, I pulled out my "Home theater in a box" that I got about a year ago. Until I get my axiom system I will be using this system. Now here is the problem. I hooked everything up and I had FoxHD football on which I know is broadcasting is Dolby 5.1. My home theater in a box will only play it in Pro Logic 11 though. I can only get the Home theater in a box to play dolby digital when I put in a DVD. What am I doing wrong? Do I not have something connected? I had this system at my old house and the Dolby digital 5.1 worked fine.

I have a cable running from "Digital audio out" on my cable box to "Audio Coaxle in" on my home theater in a box reciever.

that is the only thing that is connecting my cable box to my surround system. should i have something else connected? please help, i am beyond stressed out, been working on this damn thing for 4 hours when im supposed to be watching my football!!!

Well N2A, I'm not sure what to tell ya, as I don't have a HTIB system. Also, not familiar with what brand/model you have. It sounds like you have the proper audio cable hooked up. For digital audio you need either Coax. or Optical. The only thing I can think of is a setting in the receiver. My denon automatically recognizes the signal coming in, it is possible your HTIB does not have that ability. You may have to cycle through the various surround/audio settings until it changes. For DVD sources it sounds like you have it correct, for the HD broadcast it may be set on a different sound option.

Are you sure your cable box is outputting 5.1? My box (charter) is stereo only (even though it has a digital out) which converts to prologic at the receiver.

that could be it, I know my OTA HD Tuner does the 5.1 output, but a cable box may not, you would think if it is an HD box it would though?

The program may be broadcast by the network in DD 5.1, but unless your local station is sending it in 5.1, you will only get stereo which you can convert to ProLogic. My local NBC station sends the 5.1 feed. My local CBS, and ABC don't. The dirty $%&*&)$#**()_!!!!!!!

got it working. had to set my digital box to send the Dolby Digital signle.

This little Pioneer HTIB sounds pretty damn good for a $400 system. Its no Danon/Axiom combo but it will make due until I get my Axioms in a few months.
