I am kind of new to home theatre (at least a good one as I have had a bose system for a while)so my question is I now have a Denon 985s receiver to power my new Axion purchase, epic 60 with the EP350 and VP150, and I am wondering if HDTV signal suffers any by going through the recever rather than directly to T.V.

Pik, any signal passing through a device has some loss of strength. HDTV has a maximum bandwidth requirement of about 37 MHz. The 985 has a bandwidth(the point where the signal has a 3dB loss)of 100MHz. Recommendations vary as to the bandwidth a receiver should have, e.g. anything over 37MHz, double that, etc. There should be no visibly significant problem with passing HDTV through the 985.

I haven't noticed any loss going through my 3805.

I used to have all my connections routed through my 985 and didn't notice any signal degradation/loss. As always, try it with your own setup and eyes to be sure. Also, since there is no processing done with the HD signal, it simply passes the data. I would liken this to a simple extension cord (although I could be wrong).

This is probably a very basic question but what's the advantage of going through my receiver to hook up any video?

Mainly to reduce cable clutter since you only have 1 set of cables going to the tv. The Denon also upconverts signals from composite, rca, and s-video out through component as well.

Also, so you don't have to change tv/video inputs going from a dvd player to satellite, etc.
