I had bare wire, at both ends, for many years. I recently changed to bananna plugs. Why? For years, I didn't change anything. Now, I am going to be changing the setup as I buy new gear, and, we are planning on moving in the next year or two.

I used the plugs for the ease of disconnect/ reconnect. With my current receiver, you have to be careful connecting all the wires. There isn't much room back there. Banana plugs make it lots easier.

I use banana plugs on the business end of the receiver and bare wire on the speakers.
