On the recommendations of others on this board I picked up this processor. Unfortunately, it came with the original firmware. Everything I read indicates that the unit sounds best with the 2.1 firmware. Unfortunately, I can't seem to locate it anywhere. Sony doesn't have the upgrade kit with the CD and upgrade remote. I am less concerened about the remote than I am about the software. Does anyone have access to the software with the CD key, or the CD itself. You can post or privately e-mail me with the information.

Try these sites. I downloaded the firmware upgrades and had absolutely no problems. You must install the upgrades in the correct order or there'll be bad trouble.

I run Version 2.50 and to say I'm delighted with my champagne colored Sony is an understatement.

Hope you like yours as much!

I wrote to him a few days ago, expecting to receive the CD key but I haven't gotten a response. Are you sure he is still in operation? How did you do the upgrade? Would it be possible for you to send me the program with the cd key. Thanks.
Ed

Grumble, grumble,...Sony...gripe, gripe....bah!

Bout a year ago we got us one of those dandy Sony DVD jukeboxes....400 discs, cool. Really.

However....it has developed a new(and ONLY, problem)now, when it plays a disc and puts the disc back in the carossel tray, it keeps the title for itself.

For discs 0 thru 99, after we type in the info(or it loads it itself during the load operation)and the info is right there where it should be in the title menu, all is cool til we view the selection. After the disc is finished, so is the title!!

we do keep a master list in a folder, though, so.....

Ed, as I recall it took a few days for him to respond (email?) I downloaded the upgrades to floppies, but have moved since. Dunno if I still have them. I will check emails to see if I have the key. If I do, I'll PM you.

The TA E9000ES is one seriously great sounding processor. It's only shortcoming IMnsHO is its lack of multichannel inputs.

What units have you compared it with? In that price range I've been looking at the Lexicon 1 and 2, the Proceed AVP, and the Sunfire Theater Grand I, B&K Reference 20 and EAD. Have you compared the Sony to any of these

I have an Integra DTC 9.4 and the Sony compares very well in sound quality ... maybe even better than the Integra. I've spent some time with the Sunfire and it's OK, but I don't think it's as good as the Sony. Heard good things about the B&K, don't have personal experience with the rest.
