I just sold my SVS PB-10 and I'm debating between a 350, SVS PB-12 and a HSU STF-3. I'm leaning towards the HSU but was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or experience with these. Don't think I can go wrong with any of them so it's probably just a personal preference.

Thanks.

In the end, that's exactly what it pretty much boils down to buddy.

I've never heard the 350, but my good friend Sirquack has one and could share his thought with you regarding that sub.

The SVS I have heard, and I own an HSU VTF-3 MK 2. The VTF-3 MK 2 is, well, I have a very hard time putting into words my feelings pretaining to this sub. In a word "Un-freakin-believable"!!!! Ok, that's more then one word, but I think you get my point. It's truly one oustanding, totally awesome sub! IMO

The STF-3 isn't much different. Another good friend of mine (Wid) has the STF-3 and he would be more then happy to tell you all about that baby.

Either way, whichever you decide on, you can't go wrong. If you decide to go with one of Axioms subs though, you might want to consider the EP500, if your budget will allow.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Hey Charles, can you tell us how big of a room do you have? As Sutter mentioned, I have the 350. When I purchased my speakers, it was important that they all had the same finish, in my case the Mansfield Beech. For the past year I've had everything up in a room that was about 15 x 20 with vaulted ceilings. The 350 rocked the house when it was asked to produce. I have since moved everything down to a room that is about 900 Sq. Ft., so I'm debating on either upgrading to a 500 or 600, or maybe even keep my 350 and add another 350 or 500, to balance out the sound for the larger room.

Don't get me wrong, the 350 does a great job, even in the larger room. Again, for me it is important that all my speakers match in appearance.

Good luck on your decision..Randy

Charles, the debate will rage on, but you really can't go wrong with a Hsu or SVS. I haven't heard an SVS, but I've owned a couple of Hsu subs and they are as good as Sutter says. Can be nimble and agile for music and frighteningly hard hitting for movies. Money well spent. The only problem is that you will steer all your movie watching towards action movies with loud explosions.

Randy,
The den is 14x18x8 but it opens up straight into the breakfast nook and kitchen so there is a lot of open space. Probably if I had a back wall, the 10 would work fine but with the open area I think it loses some punch. Yes the PB10 did great in the room. However , I wanted more shake, rattle and roll. I guess bottom line, it boils down to upgradeitis!!!

I have a HSU VTF3-MK2 sub, which I got on sale with the Piano black finish. I love this thing! It's got great base and isn't boomy. I accidentally turned the volume half way up and my wife thought there was an earthquake.
