Hello. I'm taking my first leap into buying a home theater setup soon. I plan on buying the main speakers first and adding on when I have more cash. I was just wondering if the Mzero's are usable as mains for a while. I'd eventually be moving them back as surrounds and picking up a set of M22's. What do you think?
What about a center channel? What differences will I notice between the VPZero and the VP 50?

mzero's are tiny, tiny speakers.

Axiom is discontinuing them, I believe.

Save your money and buy the M22's and at least a VP100 to go with them.

Small speakers have some interesting things going for them. Because the woofer and tweeter are so close together, and because the box is so small, they image like champions. Instruments will be precisely located in space. That can be quite wonderful.
The downside to a physically small enclosure is lack of bass output and a limit to the volume of sound that can be produced. That being said, the MZero's with a subwoofer in a small room will be quite an entertaining system. As an example, I have an old set of RadioShack Minimus 7s. Every now and then I replace my main speakers with them and run them with my sub. No one can believe that the sound that they are hearing comes from those two tiny boxes.

What about using them as surrounds?

Think they'd work well? I might be getting a set of M22's or M40's and if the MZeros would work as surrounds, that'd be great. How would they fare compared to some QS4's?

I think that they would be very usable as surrounds. Would they work as well as Q4s, for films probably not as well, for DVD Audio or SACD they would be fine if you understand their bass and volume limitations. It all depends on your budget. There is no question that M22s and QS4s are superior speakers, but if they are unaffordable it does not matter how good they sound. In either case you will require a subwoofer for a complete sound. If a sub is not in your plans for the next while then you may want to see if you can afford a pair of M3s. They will sound fine without a sub in the short term. They will also be excellent when you expand your system.
