Loaded up the 5 disc changer with John Lennon's box set and hit shuffle. Listened all day. Right now Sirius satellite radio is doing a beautiful live simulcast to 24 countries, from NY and London, with different artists paying tribute with stories and songs.

Twenty five years he's been gone and I still miss him.His work is as vital today as it was then.

I agree completely! I would have loved to see/hear the Beatles reunite after 20 years or so too.

A while back I played the Beatles "One" cd. It reminded me on just how darn good them boys were.

Okay, talk about timing. Just after I posted the above about the Beatles, my shuffle play in WMP comes up with "I am the Walrus" from Magical Mystery Tour. This was out of 3400 songs.

Was it just coincidental? Or something more?!

Lets not forget it's not just one Beatle we've lost.

I agree, a reunite tour, or cd, would have been so cool.

No , for sure John and George were terrible losses. It's just that John is 25 years today. That in itself is too much for me. Where did the time go?

The length in time has nothing to do with my point, and that is John is NOT the only Beatle we've lost. As a musician myself, I can assure you, no one man makes the band. It's the sum of the parts that equals the whole.

However, we're talking about the man here and not so much the Beatles themself.

I do understand what your saying though, and yes your quite right, time has a funny way of just jetting right by. If don't stop and take a look around every once in a while, you'll defiantly miss something that's for sure.

Good thread you started here.

Your right Oz, this is the 25th Anniversary of his death, and I remember that day like it was yesterday. We should be remembering him today, as we do the other members on their death anniversaries.

RIP John...

I guess that always was the problem John delt with. Trying to seperate himself from the Beatles. The press, the fans and his mates in the band couln't accept that he was done with the Beatles and now he was trying to be John Lennon.

"I was the walrus but now I'm John"

Anyway in either context John or the Beatles he was responsible for some great and memorable tunes.
I'm glad your enjoying the thread.

I hope you don't mean that as sarcasm.

Sarcasm has no place here. I have learned that it only gets me in trouble. Anyway John would not appreciate it. Wait a minute... what am I saying? He would love it!
