Hi guys,

Ordered M60s,VP150 and QS8s and the speakers will be received on Wednesday 12/21! I am so Xcited, hardly able to sleep! Well, need some advice guys! I have a Sony Receiver STR-DE675 and Yamaha SWT90 sub (mere 8" and 80W). My question is, how early u guys think I should upgrade these both. Before u ask, lemme tell ya, budget ain't an issue, but not really comfy spending all that hard earned money at once.

Do u guys think I can hang onto the Sony and Yamaha for a while, say until next Dec? Mine is a medium room 16x13x9 and 80%HT.

Once again thanks for any useful and rational input.

I'd say there is still time to get a EP500 or 600 before Christmas!

Hi! And a hearty holiday Welcome!!!

...hmmmmmm.....if it were ME, I'd keep the Sony for a bit and figure that maybe,...just maybe....the M60s will produce nearly the same bass as your current sub will

So I'd spend a little while; since I couldn't sleep anywaylooking over all these threads, and a few other sites, and come up with an appropriate replacement sub, cause; if you spend 80% on movies, then a great sub is most important!!

........of course I've never heard the Yamaha sub, and it may well work OK in your system for a bit, so.....

Thanks Guys! Spared the nose mark on the window, but almost broke the mouse refreshing the tracking screen. After reading thru the board, I realized that I am not really weird (alone!) as my wife was thinking after she saw me bouncing off the walls, talking to myself and smiling at everyone in the mall!

Anyways, I guess I got to buy the SPL meter, which I never used in the past and take a dig at the calibration.

Lets see how it goes!

Uh guys? I'm scared! The M60 Posse is growing. Soon they will rise to dominate all media. Kind of like Howard but not as good looking.

When i first auditioned axioms it was at members house who had not yet purchased his sub but had the same setup as you purchased in a rather large room and it sounded so good i contimplated not getting a sub right away. i then realized for me personally i wanted it all now and have been happy ever since. Though i think you will be satisfied for quite sometime with your sub. fwiw

I know I would be beaten up, but lemme ask this. Since the calibration is a one time affair, isn't it really nice if I can find someone who lives nearby, in central Jersey to be precise, and have the pleasure of doing it together over beer and chips? This would be fun and pleasure for both, IMHO. It is not about money, but to share and spread the good spirit.

Now you can beat me up!

Still waiting for the FedEx truck.

If you can find someone nearby this is definitely the recommended approach. It has the added benefit that when you mess up the settings a couple of months later while trying something new (we all do it) you will have learned how to fix it up yourself
