I know the whole, "best movies to play with your axioms" post have been done before so I wont go there.

In my little experiance with watching DTS vs Dolby incoded DVD's, I have come to the conclusion that DTS is in a different league compared to dolby. DTS just sounds so much better to me.

My point in starting this thread is to see if we can get a list of good DVD's that are incoded with DTS. I know the DTS website lists all the movies but there are thousands to sort threw and alot of them are cheesy flicks. If we could get this kind of list going I think it would be pretty neat. Thanks

I played Lord of the Rings in DTS mode on my system last night...ouch. I set the volume just loud enough to hear dialogue clearly, but my STF-2 sub couldn't keep up so I had to turn it off. I haven't calibrated the system yet so mind you I might need some tweaks, but that was "neighbor calling the police" loud.

Kind of a dated movie but the special edition of Top Gun with the DTS-ES discrete 6.1 mix sounds incredible.

If you're into Japanese Anime then you definitely should check out Appleseed. I have not heard ANY other movie make as much use of the QS8s (surrounds) as this movie. Story is kinda decent but the visuals and audio will leave you breathless. Really cool animation if you have an HDTV.

I have some others, can't recall off the top of my head but Last Of the Mohicans is one. Jurassic Park, Titan A.E., Akira, Gladiator, and Blue Man Group.

I'm sure there are tons of others. I've also read (and not heard myself) that Kill Bill 1/2 and Fast and Furious have excellent DTS soundtracks. Can anyone else confirm these titles have good sound?

Only disc I have found where the DTS track seems inferior to Dolby is Toy Story (watching it now for the 50th time ).
It says Dolby EX though, so maybe there is a difference between that and regular DD 5.1.

The Green Mile.
Open Range.
Titan A.E.
And another nomination for Saving Private Ryan.
Although the DTS version isnt as available as the DD version.

I agree! I was amazed at the beginning of Top Gun how good the music sounded! (the instrumental music, not the crappy 80's music!) After that you just knew that the dogfights were gonna sound awesome.
