I can't believe it but I am now a dad. Scary, awesome, fun, sleep deprived, amazing, and wonderful.

Here he is after one week.

His name is Kai

His name means "ocean" in hawaiian, which is very relevant to how I met his wife and how he was made.

And yes that is me, the speaker geek, holding him at our beach.

And yes, he loved "Beethoven" Symphony no. 9 performed by the Atlanta symphony Orchestra and chorus played in 5.1 SACD on my Axiom system.

It was a cool moment between new father and son.

Regards

oh yeah, He was born at 11:59:45 PM on Dec 27th. 15 seconds to a different birthday.

Congratulations SS! He obviously has the same excellent taste in music as his dad!

That's wonderful news. Congrat's to you and the wife. Your opening lines brought all those feelings back in a wave of emotion. No pun intended. There is nothing like it. Except having your first daughter.

Congratulations! First kids are a great experience. Your life gets turned upside-down, but you're thankful for it. Enjoy.

Yea, I have a few more years to wait as I am still in college.

Marriage is a wee...bit away.

Amen to that. Our little Jenna is just over three months old and I still can't get over how her smile just makes me melt. Just one little smile from her can make me go from feeling bad to good again.

Yes, I am. I think it is wrong morally to...before marriage.

Families - however you may define them - are perhaps the greatest blessing.

Savor the moments.

Congratulations and warmest wishes.

Buy your wife something really nice

Thank you all so much for your kind comments. It is so fun having our little boy around. It is also wonderful to be able to share moments like these with the great people on this forum.

You're just getting started on the sleep deprivation thing. Nothing can prepare you for the first two or three months lack of sleep. Congratulations to you and your family!

Congratulations S2!!!! Treasure the time, it evaporates quickly and all of a sudden they get married and are gone.

This is not necesssarily true any more. Been to a few weddings where the grooms parents paid or contributed.
