Anyone run a Marantz as their receiver? If so, I have one and it is kind of bright (but I love it) and are afraid of mixing this with the M60. Although I just recieved a Sunfire Cinema Grand amp and am going to run them through that.

Al, welcome. You should be careful with your terminology; if you'd have said that on some audio boards which take this "bright/warm" thing about receivers seriously you'd be derided for not knowing that Marantz is supposed to be "warm", while it's Yamaha which everyone knows to be "bright". Seriously, of course, any of them would be fine with the M60s; any well-designed receiver/amp is transparent and neutral.

al: listen to John because he knows what he is talking about.

I have found that most people just don't understand what bright, warm, etc. really mean.

AND,

If the manufacturers meet their frequency spectrum and THD numbers, THE GEAR MUST NECESSARILY BE NEUTRAL AND FLAT.

Last time I checked, the laws of physics still prevail in the audio receiver arena.

Welcome to the board!!!!!

Hey Al, welcome to the boards....

There are some Marantz owners around on this forum, maybe they will come out of hiding... I think at one time Marantz made great equipment, not sure about today?

In regards to bright/warm/harsh, etc... I learned a long time ago to take such comments with a grain of salt, especially over on AVSforum.

My Denon2805 and m60's are music to my ears...your mileage may vary.

talk to ya later...nice to have someone else in their 30's around these boards, to many old timers...... just kidding guys..

Thanks...hopefully they will come out of hiding like you said. Although like I stated before, I will more than likley be driving them with a Sunfire Cinema grand amp and maybe run the QS from the Marantz. By the way, I am pretty sure Marantz still does well, I love mine and have had it for 3 years and still am not looking to upgrade. Well of course unless I could afford a new receiver...LOL

I run my 80s through monoblocks and the QS8s from the Denon receiver. Set-up with a SPL meter and love the sound.

I'm new too the Axiom community and wanted to see if any of you could help me out. I have just purchased the Epic 80/500 and wanted to find out what would be a could reciever for this setup. My budget is about $1500 USD. The room is about 16'x22' and open to the rest of the house. It is a two story room with 2 1/2 sides.

I like to watch a lot of action movies really loud and music too.

Please help me make an educated decision on the reciever.

1.) Denon 3806 - leaning towards this but not sure
2.) Yamaha 2600
3.) NAD 773
4.) others

Thanks
