What will the 600 do that the 500 would not?

I heard a few people go from the 350 to the 500 and they say that the 350 is a good sub but the 500 is in a different league. I was wondering what more does the 600 provide compared to the 500? I love my 500 but if there is a noticeable difference between the two subs I would get the 600.
I know some of the guys here are now using multiple subs. I do not want to go that route. Any input about this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The 600 is a lot larger, almost like a dorm refrigerator.

My understanding is that they are very similar, the 600 will play a little louder and a little lower, but not sure you would ever have the dB's that high to know the difference.

To me it's kinda like the difference between the 60s & 80s. The 80s get louder and have more bass but the 60s are fine. Same with the 500 & 600?? The 600 gets a bit louder and deeper but the 500 is fine...But if ya have the $$ and room, go for it!!

The 80s are better, not just louder. IMHO.

While at the Axiom picnic we got to play with them back and forth on a switch.

My buddy and I thought the difference was huge, the 600 can pressurize the room/move much more air. It also just sounded amazing. The 500 was no slouch but there was no doubt when big brother was on.

Craigsub would probably have the most insight as he's had them all in his home.

Hay, You pretty much nailed it. The EP-600 has a more efflortless feel to it, and goes deeper, with more impact and tactile ability.

There is rumor that Axiom will be allowing the DSP in the 600 to lower the current 17.5 Hz cutoff to 16 Hz, which will allow the 600 to pick up the lowest note on the pipe organ.

If you have the space and the $$$, grab the 600.

Thanks guys.
Craig where have you been I have not seen you here in a while or at least I have not noticed you. I just can't see you behind all those subs.

I have been trying to explain to the pocket protectors on AVS that running a test between pro-audio and more expensive high end amps by listening for 50 seconds, then turning off the music while you re-wire the system, then listening to 50 more seconds is REALLY not a good way in which to compare components.

As these guys want to believe a $200 pro amp is equal to a $2000 high end amp, they are not easily convinced to even TRY the more expensive amps. So - Fixing the contest to get the reults one desires has become the preferred methodology ...

It is definitely friendlier over here.

We're almost finished with our dedicated room and the resulting expenditures with building materials and labor. Our Mid-Atlantic equipment rack will be installed with a couple of extra openings for future equipment expansions and we have six sub woofer in-wall outlets surrounding the room ... it will soon be time for equipment upgrades and our lonely EP-600 will have a new twin brother to keep him company, that was already a given in the planning stages of the project.

Bring on the pipe organs!
