Yeah, I know what your thinking. Yet another person asking about BW Vs Axioms.

Nope, not this time.

Before I got my Axiom M60ti's I went to a couple of high end HT shops.

Man, I liked the sound of those 704 BWs. When I finally got my Axioms M60ti's I set them up in my excitement without doing any set up with my new RX-V2500. I am a total noob so I didn't have a clue about settings or anything.

Fired em up and was left unimpressed. Should of got the BWs? Got some encouragement about settings and a little break end time.

Spent some time with the EQ stuff and got it set up as good as I could. Then after some break-in time suddenly, those unimpressive M60ti's sounded fantastic.

After really enjoying some listening this morning I happen to be in the neighborhood of that same HT store and went in and once again tried the B&Ws 704s.

Huh? Were these the same speakers I was listening to before? They sounded very inferior to the M60ti's. The bass seemed coloured, the highs not nearly as crisp. And this in a sound room set up for demo of high end stuff.

As I sat there listening to the 704s a big smile came across my face and the sales guy grined right back thinking I was really impressed.

That made me smile even more, but not as much as much as when I asked him the price for a pair of the 704s. With tax it was going to be around $2,400/pair.

At which time an even bigger smile came across my face which is still there now as I type while listening to my M60ti's.

Unfortunately there are far too many poorly designed listening rooms. I have experienced more than my fair share. I have walked out of many listening rooms just shaking my head and wondering how the hell they expect to sell speakers for 4,000 or more in rooms like that. Anyway your 60's are great sounding speakers. What is more important is they sound good in your room. Glad you are happy I'm very happy with both my 60's and 30's. Each are serving their intended purpose very nicely.

Whoopie!!!

Speaker wires is fun....

Politics is fun.....

Break-in is even.....

.....sounds like "Ears" huh??

....or maybe the speakers?

....who wants to take the first shot??!!

Just kiddin'

Some of us absolutely ride the fence and feel, from experience, that it(seems)to be BOTH!!

And yes, when I come home from listening to an aquantences system to hear my Axioms, I feel the same!

Heck, I don't know what it is.

All I know is I saved $1,500 and got a better pair of speakers for my taste. Everything else is just so much talk.

After going through all this myself, shopping for speakers are so hard for this very reason. In addition, I often found myself comparing different speakers in different rooms, with different sound systems.

Shopping for subwoofers is even harder since they are even more dependent on placement and room characteristics. The same subwoofer would sound completely different in different stores. Some salespeople admitted to me that the subwoofer was probably not properly calibrated.

I am firmly convinced that there is no substitute for in-home listening of speakers / subwoofers.

You can read where I said the same. It just sounds different at home!

I had the same problem. I didn't go with a sub and the m50ti's were not going low. I have it for about a month now and used mainly for tv and movies. I put on the same movie, Saving Pvt..., and to my happiness it was much better. I noticed the difference slowly getting better, but when I tried the same movie from day one and a month later, the difference was very noticeable. The surrounds are nice too. I do think I have them a little higher than they should be though.

I thought I was hearing things until I read this thread. My system now has about 20-25hrs and seems to get better everytime I listen.

Yep, your brain is adjusting to the sound, not like most think there is such thing as speaker breakin. If there is, it happens within the first few minutes of using your speakers the first time.
