I am thinking of purchasing a pr of m22's. I already have some good stands that are not in use. I also have a baby who is about to crawl then toddle. I wondered what people's thoughts on the best way to attach speakers to stands were. Obviously, safety and good sound quality are my goals. Any help would be much appreciated,

You could fasten them securely by drilling holes and securing them with screws. Ian has mentioned this in a couple of posts.

I must admit, I was playing with the M3's and a set of Axiom stands(SS24) and was shocked how unstable they were! The dealer shook his head, seemingly to agree. He was not very knowledgable about the products, and could not say if this was a correct match. After looking on the web, it seems they are. The M22 are larger still, and maybe the correct stand for them is more sturdy.

In this instance, it looked like an accident waiting to happen.....Securing them would be a must in most environments.

I just received my pair of M22's and also purchased the SS16 stands with these. The 16" height really puts these tall bookshelf speakers at the right height. I also was wondering about stability as I have a curious cat (somewhat as troublesome as a child). I haven't set everything up yet, but I have read that Blue Tak, or poster putty (available at any office store for 2 bucks), can and has been used to hold the speakers to the stands quite well.

I will probably be trying this method as I really don't want to drill into my new speakers. And the putty is removeable if need be. Good luck!

Yes, I have used Audio Tak to secure speakers to stands. However, this was simply to ensure acoustic coupling for resonance altering purposes. I have no reason to need the mechanical rigidness of wood screws. My child is older, adn I have no pets.

I think you have 3 options: 1- remove the cat from the equation (easier said than done), 2 - try the tak and if it fails, 3 - wood screws.

I have tried removing the cat from the equation and it just won't work. Wife's pet and all. :)

Hmmm....maybe I could use the poster tac to secure the cat instead? Nah.

Looks like you could remove the wife, and the cat would an added bonus!

Probably not a good idea, as she would take all of your stereo fun money!
