Another question for anybody who's owned Axioms for a while.

What finish shows scratches & scuffs the least?

Not that I would encourage mistreatment of loudspeakers, but I'm trying to think long term here.

I can't help at all with your question, but I have found that an icy stare and promise of impending doom as well as homelessness to an offender has helped to keep my Axioms in pristine condition!

We are raising four grandchildren ages 4 through 12 and we've had them and our Axioms for over four years now, and they still look like the day they were purchased!!

Uh...that was misleading....the kids look as though they're gettin' older

I had my sister who is a seamstess make some covers for my M80s. The only time they are uncovered is when they are called to duty.

What I have seen is that the flat surfaces are pretty tough... whatever gets on the speakers wipes right off, and there is enough synthetic grain that little scratches etc... don't show. The maple does seem the most likely to show dirt & stains but also seems the easiest to clean with a damp cloth.

On the other hand, if you ding in an edge or corner, it's going to show no matter what... and the only differentiator is going to be whether the edges are a sharp contrast to the walls & floor and attract eyes as a result.

That's a great idea. You could even make removable panels over the drivers and ports for continuous use in a hostile environment (eg. grandkids ).

My M80s a 2.5 years old and still look as if they are in new condition. They do work well and are cheap to make.

When people used to say that the M80's were "finicky" in regards to placement I would think no M80's are not finicky. Maybe "brooding" or something like that. Now you go and put cozies on them. Makes me think of Phil Hartman.

Axiom has some of the finest vinyl wrapped speakers in the industry, not sure it matters what finish you go with for longevity. I guess I'd go with something that goes with your room colors/trim. If your married, get something that makes your wife happy.
