Was the Surrender post just a long drawn out dream?

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

I stopped keeping up with it earlier this week. Came home from work and found 79 unread posts in that thread. Too much to wade through. It really is unfortunate if we lost a few members to it.

so can anyone provide a quick recap of what happened? I tried following it but just like StPat I didn't wanna wade through all the new posts.

Who did we lose, and who got worked up to leave?

I'd ask to not recap the string. Some things are just better left alone. I’m greatfull to Amie for deleting it.

Craig left, and for good. I don’t know who else left, but I came close to leaving myself.

Politics, religion and other topics with as much emotion as those topics and the others discussed in that thread are best discussed in person, with friendships mature enough to take some bruises.

WTF! I just stumbled in from the golf course and my raison d' etre, the Surrender thread, is gone!

What happened!? What did I miss? Woe is me.

There was a slightly heated discussion about pros and cons of unions going on -- either that got out of hand or someone brought up SVS vs. Axiom subwoofers again.

Hope this wasn't my fault...

In my humble opinion; it was one of the fun-est threads we've had going here for quite a while!

Unless something really wierd happened right there at the end!

Hey there!.....Moderator; Sir or Madam!?

Bring it back....please?

Lob off the last three or four posts and sneak it back in....

....ok?....yeah? We understand.

Who gives a [censored] about unions?! I'm just glad my little funnies about Canada's PM didn't cause the meltdown.

Belong to a union = "yeah for unions".
Non-union = "unions blow".

It would really blow if folks on the supply side, those who own the means of production, were able to organize as labor does and act in their own collective interests. Could really wreak some havoc that way. Price fixing, induced shortages, etc...

Darn, I was all set to mention that I wish I was in one of those, but I'm not, so I won't. Besides, I don't want to cause a fight between Jack and Peter .

I gave serious thought to leaving. Our company's firewall has blocked the Axiom board for some reason, so I haven't had the opportunity to check the board as frequently as I used to. I settled in one evening this past week, there were over 1,000 unread posts. Since most seem to cover the same old questions I went to the Water Cooler and started reading the Surrender thread. That was almost enough to make me think I was better off not checking the board at all.

Must have.
I kept up with it and it seemed to start out kinda harsh, but then mellowed out and I thought it was going to die a peaceful death.
Guess I was wrong. To get a thread deleted around here is rare.
Over a thread that has nothing to do with audio, I hope no one leaves for good.
Although I dont agree with several people around here on politics and "other things" I'm sure we could be the best of friends if we actually met face to face.

Maybe you should tie your bottle opener to your ethernet cable in such a way that it is impossible to use while it's still connected to your computer.

No beers, I had 3 1/2 liter bottles of cape cods out on the golf course. Then had some wine with dinner (dunno how much) and a few 12 year old Dewars afterwards.

And, actually, my post wasn't inflammatory.

I hope that not too many people left for good.

I consider myself right wing conservative, but a lot of great friends are left-wing liberals. And though we have heated debates about politics and the ways of the world, we drink our beers and we respect each other's views in the end.

I hope that our love for speakers and subwoofers will be the common ground.

The post was shut down due to what was, shall we say, a rather bad analogy using one of the English language's most controversial words. I believe the word's presence on Axiom's site is the only reason the thread was deleted.
