I guess my only question would be why you'd throw that large an amp into home theatre speakers if you have no intention of blowing out windows?

Is it the old "cat's balls" thing? ie: Why do cats lick their balls? Because they can!

I guess people do odd things all the time. They buy Land Rovers that never get further off the road than the gravel parking lot of the soccer pitch.

I can't even imagine that much power, my 300 watts with the 80's is shaking the house.

1100 watts will let you play about 5.5dB louder than 300 watts. (Doubling the power adds 3 dB.) 5 dB is characterized as a clearly noticable change, but it takes 10dB to sound twice as loud. To play twice as loud as 300 watts would therefore take more than 2400 watts! yikes!

I should clarify... it's up to him what he spends his money on, but... I dunno, the extra seems wasted, even if just for bragging rights. Could always put that money into more things to listen to, rather than an amp you can arc-weld with...

I agree that it's the don't have to, but want to syndrome. Nothing wrong with it.

Spend your money your way!

My current HT room is 60x20x9 cft. I can easily use the 1100 watts to fill the room with beautiful music! At almost ear splitting levels! :-)

The QSC SRA 3622 amps (1100 wpc x 2 @4ohms) are being sold for $1300 each. I think that's a very reasonable price for the number of watts!

With that much power your speakers will likely hit their physical excursion limits if pushed too far.
Adding power will not increase SPLs infinitely.

Was doing some reading QSC SRA 3600, seems it is based on the PLX 3402 except it has a quieter fan, and the reason the company is giving for the price cut was that they were not selling as well as projected. Also the 3600 had the addition of RCA inuts, the 3402 uses XLR iputs.
