Did a search of ceiling mounts and supposedly there were ceiling mounts that were going to be available last Spring. Did they ever make it?

Looking to purchase QS4 but need to ceiling mount them as the room layout is not conducive to wall mounting or use stands. Looked at the omnimounts and vogels but would prefer OEM and especially to avoid any drilling.

Any info be appreciated.

You must be talking about the "full metal bracket" They have some on the outlet page.

Here is an easily implementable $10 solution:

(1) Determine the distance you want between the ceiling and the bottom of the mounted QS4's.

(2) Cut two pieces of 2x8 lumber to that length.

(3) Fasten a pair of L-shaped steal brances on one end ("top") of the 2x8's.

(4) Paint/finish the 2x8's in the color of the ceiling or the QS4 (or whatever you like).

(5) Fasten the included QS4 brackets on the 2x8's, at approximately 5" from their "bottom" -- consult the actual dimentions of the QS4.

(6) Fasten the the 2x8's into the ceiling joists via the L-braces, using long woodscrews (#12 x 2" or longer). For safety, accurately ascertain the joist centers by using an electronic stud sensor.

(7) Hung the QS4's onto the 2x8's.

Thanks Sushi for post. Am wondering if there's a way to avoid the wood blocks. Are there any ceiling mounts that would extend the speakers lower from the ceiling? That would be much preferred if possible. If anybody has any pics of their ceiling mounted speakers - would love to see them to get some ideas. Thanks again.

pds,

Sure there are a variety of "generic" brackets available, but essentially all of them, including Axiom's own universal bracket, do require drilling into the back of your QS4's, which you said you didn't like. In contrast, if you use the special bracket that comes with the QS4, there is no need of drilling. I cannot think of a better way of utilizing the included bracket than something like I posted above...

btw, I recently ceiling-mounted my front projection screen in a very similar manner, and it looks much "cleaner" than I thought. Here is a photo.

Well this one is going to be fun. I spoke with Joe on the phone and he said that you could ceiling mount using the brackets that come with the QS4s as well as using the Axiom bracket. My only concern with the brackets supplied w/ QS4 is that it seems to make the ceiling mount really flush, e.g. no space between ceiling, bracket, and speaker. So I might go down the route of buying the Axiom brackets and drilling the speakers so that I can get some more space between the ceiling and the speakers.

Another thought is go with in-walls. Crux of my problem is that one speaker would be way further back as the room's back wall doesn't go completely across. I've got a stairway behind this open room where I've got the HT setup which is causing these mounting problems.

Argh.

John Henderson made a post some months ago on his ceiling mounted speakers.
You might want to try searching the forums for that. He included pictures.
