Good Day to all,ive read a lot of threads in this forum and I would like to ask for advise or opinion regarding my Onkyo HITB S780 I bought at Circuit city $450 to replace with axiom speakers
Replace front=2 M60
Replace center= vp 150
Replace surround= 3 QS8
Keep the Onkyo receiver 1000wtts and subwoofer 230 wtts
room size Large
I bought Onkyo HTIB S780 becoz of positive reviews now i want to replace it with Axiom speakers.
Do you think it would make a big difference in sound quality.I love music and movies. Thanks to all and more power

I think you will see a dramatic change with the Axioms. IMHO it would be like moving up from a KIA to a Mercedes.

Those are exactly the speakers I have replaced for m60(2)/VP150/QS8(2)/EP500.

The improvement is dramatic. I keep my receiver, Onkyo 703, I think it's great, and have many configuration options.

The Onkyo sub is nowhere close to EP500 or even EP350. On the other hand, I keep the Onkyo main speakers and use it as rear surrounds, they are perfect for that, enough power, direct sound, and a decent quality for the back speakers.

>>> Keep the Onkyo receiver 1000wtts <<<

That's a whole heap of power my friend!

Seriously, welcome and I hope you will enjoy the new system as much as I suspect you will.

Just a couple of things, I would also second the EP500 if you can afford it, however, I would not replace the Axiom Qs8 surrounds with bookshelf speakers, the qs8's are one of Axioms most famous speakers.

Also, if you order from the Factory Outlet you'll save 10%, it is found on the "Store" page.

You could use your existing bookshelfs for the rear channels for 6.1 or 7.1, but I'd never use them for the left/right surround channel, the Qs8's would be your best choice.

Nilo, another welcome. I'd certainly agree with Randy(sirquack)that you shouldn't delay on the QSs. If the budget is a bit tight, I'd suggest putting off the VP150, since you could use the Onkyo, or even no speaker for a "phantom" center. Using two of your Onkyos for back surrounds, as Gena suggested, is okay, but the QS side surrounds are really better. Your Onkyo receiver is fine for use with the setup.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.
