Not an Axiom issue but perhaps someone here has some advice...

I have a pair of Allison CD-8's that I use for the rear-surrounds. They're about 20 years old but sound great. Except for the one that has a broken tweeter - wire broken. Allison Acoustics has a web presence (www.allisonacoustics.com) but none of the phone numbers or email addresses work. I'd like to replace the tweeter but that source may have dried up.

Shot in the dark - does any one know of an alternate source for these parts or a suitable substitute for the tweeter?

Thanks!

-Brina

If it's a broken wire, can't you just replace the wire, or splice the broken ends together with something?

That was my first thought as well but the wire is broken just where it disappears into the bowels of the driver. Actually, I can't believe they've lasted this long now that I look at them - from the front of the speaker, two micro-thin thread-like wires come out from the sides, form a loose loop and disappear into the center. The wire broke just as it goes into the center of the driver.

Just thought I'd follow up with an update.

I went ahead and bought a pair of Axiom M3 tweeters since the specs and crossover are similar. The hole pattern was exactly the same - they dropped right in - a perfect fit!

As for the sound I can't say they're perfect, but given the alternative, it's definately an improvement. These will make a reasonable 2nd system with the old gear in my office. I guess I have to call them 'Axison CD-8's now!

John or Brent, if you read this, thanks again for all the help and advice!
