Comparison between the Hsu VTF-3 HO and the SVS PB12-Ultra.

If you are curious about the new HSU VTF-3 HOs, Craigsub rides again with a pair of them. He is considering throwing an EP500 into the mix at some point. Should be interesting.

Craig started a thread about this at AVS, but a couple of trouble makers were able to get the thread closed. So what else is new?

There are some pretty smart folks over at AVS but they sure do have a bunch of plain ole idiots.

Did any of you see the thread under amps, receivers, etc. about someone asking for a seperate amplifier because his friend's Axioms were too "bright?"

I agree with both comments about AVS. That is the only forum where I have found a need to make liberal use of the "Ignore" list. Works great.

The issue there is that the membership base is so large that the small percentage of idiots and trolls translates into a large real number. I still glean useful information, but I have to be in the right frame of mind to go there.

...the same frame of mind that it takes to successfully navigate a minefield that you've been forced to cross at gunpoint?

Am I close?

same audition info here http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20925

I may be new to this "scene" but can assure you its a MUCH more civil and enjoyable read at the AH link vice the other forum. I also believe that is exactly why he has put it up at AH. just my opinion, don't flame me if its wrong. won't do u any good anyhow, I have add a flameproof suit for quite some time now lol.

and just when I thought i "KNEW" I wanted a HSU VTF-3 MK2 along comes the HO .... oh shiznitz ... my dilema with ANY choosing is my 'desire" keeps leading to a bigger expenditure. was thinking of the Axiom epic grand master [-] the ep350, and the more I read the harder it all becomes to choose which components to build a system with. SIGH
Peace Out, gotta hit the hay, will check back tomorrow.

I've been keeping up with the thread. Great so far, and not as much drama.

I've got a two week old PB12-Ultra and it's an amazingly powerful subwoofer. My home theater room is better than 20,000 cubic feet (really high ceilings) and the thing lights it up pretty well. I've got one plug in installed and used the Avila disk and the Radio Shack dB meter to tune the thing to match my current (20 year old Infinity Reference Standards) towers, side and rear surrounds on my Yamaha RX-V2600. The thing will suck the air right out of your lungs - well it does hit 85 dB at about the 10 o'clock position on the amplifier's gain with the receiver set to -6 dB on the THX text tone. I've only watched a few good movies as I was out of town last week - the shoot out bank robbery scene in Heat was amazing as were a couple of the helicopter fly-bys. I got the oak finish and the furniture is very good quality.

I'm waiting on the rumored rear venier finish of the Axiom speaker line to become available before pulling the trigger. Once the new speakers arrive I'll get serious and evaluate the need for a second subwoofer.

The Reference Standards I have have twin 8" woofers in the towers so they can contribute a bunch of base themselves. The Yamaha wants to set the crossover at 60 Hz on them.
