it's not the audio from the center channel that is of concern, i obviously didn't state my problem correctly. my qs8's and my m60's seem to be receiving the same audio as my center 150. isn't the qs8's suppose to handle the effects only?
did i say before that this is frustrating.

You should be getting different audio signals on all channels, my suggestion is to go through the manual a couple times, run the test tones and use the auto setup.

It sounds like 5 channel stereo. Or it's the source material.

If your calibration gave you separate channel tones then the receiver is fine. Check your output mode.

things are moving along slowly, i finally have the audio separated to the correct speakers, that denon manual is about to go out the window, but that's another story. i've had to raise the volume on the surrounds just to be able to hear anything, but unless there is a good dvd with effects to show off my new surrounds i'm just not impressed. i used armageddon for my test, plenty of effects but not alot coming from my surrounds. is this all i have to look foward to.

Somethings still not right if you have to raise the volume to hear the QS8's, have you used the auto setup with the mic, and when playing a DVD is the source showing as DTS, or Dolby Digital.

Or used manual setup with an spl meter?

It sounds to me like you are still in a 5 channel stereo mode and your receiver is not decoding the Dolby or DTS surround.
Make sure your receiver's mode is set to auto and it will automatically switch to whatever mode the input source is sending your receiver, whether it be DD or DTS.

deadline (may I call you dead? [wink)]. Some thoughts.

1) doesn't sound like you have calibrated your speakers with an SPL meter. The 2807 will be set to "0" for each speaker and the sub until you do that. Once you calibrate, you will be amazed with the improvement.

2) Don't toss the manual. The Denon manuals aren't actually too bad once you learn to focus in on the area you want to work with. Otherwise it's like drinking from a fire hose.

3) Either grab your remote or look on the face of the receiver. There should be a setting called "Auto". If this command is active, it will pick up the audio coming from the input device you have selected. If the red light on the receiver for Auto isn't lit, you will need to send the command for Auto from the remote or push the Auto button on the receiver.

After you get the Auto thing figured out, you can then begin to choose the manner in which you would rather hear the sound by trying different audio modes (PCM, DTS, 5/7 channel, Pure direct stereo, etc.) If things get out of whack simply activate Auto - it is your friend.

Once you deal with the 3 things above, your frustration should dissipate in large part. Then you can start palying with some of the flexibilities of the Denon. It is an excellent receiver.

DL, going over this, it looks like you solved the no audio problem, but as was pointed out, you should be sure that if you're using the coax#2 input that the 2807's digital input menu setting for DVD is coax#2. As to why you'd get the same sound in the surrounds as the center, as was also pointed out, this sounds like 5-channel stereo has been unintentionally turned on, so check that. As to the general level of the surrounds compared to the front speakers, the auto-calibration feature of the 2807 does a good job of setting the levels. If this disappoints you, keep in mind that the surrounds aren't supposed to be continually loud and drawing attention to themselves. At times in movies there may be nothing in the surrounds. At other times there might be just subtle ambience content.

The separate point about a "delay" to the sub wasn't clear. If you mean that the sub doesn't "wake up" when bass material is playing, maybe the voltage output from the 2807 is too low. Try setting the level adjustment on the sub itself lower; the auto-calibration on the 2807 will then increase the voltage output to compensate for this when you re-run the auto calibration. Courage dl, you'll get it.
